1. Introduction & Data Controller
Welcome to HalalPlate (https://halal-plate.truxio.bond), an educational and community halal food discovery directory founded by H M Jubair Alam and operated under the Islamic Digital Initiative ("we", "our", or "us").
This Privacy Policy explains how personal and non-personal data is gathered, processed, and safeguarded when you access our website, use our interactive food mapping tools, bookmark restaurants, or communicate with our verification team. If you have any inquiries regarding data protection, you may reach our designated data representative at siddiknurealam1@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
HalalPlate is engineered with a strict privacy-by-design architecture. We do not require users to create an account, register passwords, or link social logins to access our full directory of halal restaurants.
A. Client-Side Browser Local Storage (Favorites / Saved Spots)
When you bookmark a restaurant using the heart ("Save") icon, HalalPlate stores the restaurant identifier locally in your web browser using HTML5 localStorage (under the key halalplate_favs).
Zero Server-Side Tracking for Saved Spots
Your saved restaurant bookmarks remain strictly on your personal device. They are never transmitted to our remote servers, never monetized, and never correlated with your personal identity or browsing profiles. You can erase this data at any time by clearing your browser cache and local storage.
B. Interactive Map Tiles & Geolocation Services
Our map visualization is powered by the open-source Leaflet.js library utilizing map tile infrastructure provided by CartoDB and OpenStreetMap.
When you pan or zoom our interactive map, your browser makes standard HTTP GET requests to retrieve map image tiles. These tile requests convey standard network parameters (including your IP address and browser User-Agent header) necessary to deliver the map graphics. We do not log or track real-time physical GPS coordinates in the background. If you voluntarily use a location feature, coordinates are processed ephemerally solely to display relative proximity to restaurants.
C. Information You Voluntarily Provide
When you submit restaurant suggestions, claim an existing restaurant listing, report a change in halal certification, or message our audit team via our contact form, we collect the details you provide (such as your name, email address, restaurant affiliation, and message content). This information is utilized strictly to verify the authenticity of halal claims and respond directly to your inquiry.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a web server. HalalPlate uses cookies and similar technologies for the following specific purposes:
- Essential & Functional Cookies: Necessary to remember user interface preferences, active filter criteria, and ensure secure website navigation.
- Analytics Cookies: Aggregated, anonymized traffic diagnostics (such as pages visited, average session duration, and device category) to improve website responsiveness and identify broken links.
4. Third-Party Advertising Disclosures (AdSense & HalalSpark Compliance)
To keep HalalPlate accessible without paywalls or subscription fees, we work with ethical digital advertising partners, including Google AdSense and the HalalSpark advertising network.
In compliance with advertising network policies and global privacy regulations, please note the following:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites across the Internet.

- Users may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, users can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- Ethical Content Guarantee: HalalPlate enforces strict ad placement filters. We proactively block and prohibit ads related to gambling, alcohol, adult themes, dating, pay-day loans, and non-halal meat promotions.

If you believe that a minor has submitted personal contact information without parental consent, please contact us immediately so we can promptly delete the records.
7. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy periodically to reflect enhancements in our directory features, legislative changes, or updated ad network requirements.
